ITINERARY OF-3 DAYS TOUR FROM FES TO MARRAKECH
Day 1: Fes to Midelt to Merzouga
Meet your driver-guide after breakfast at your riad or hotel. Start your trip by driving across the Saiss plains to Ifran.
This city is known for its unique modern design and is a popular place for locals to spend the winter holidays. Keep going through the cedar woods until you reach the Berber town of Azrou, which is in the middle of the Middle Atlas Mountains.
Take a short break to see some Barbary Apes going about their business and taking pictures. We’ll keep going until we get to Midelt, where we’ll stop for lunch. Midelt is the area’s main business and farming hub. It’s known for its modern apple farms and mining industry. We go down to Ziz Valley early in the afternoon.
This area is famous for its beautiful valley with date palm trees and scattered Kasbah towns. As we take a sharp turn away from here, we can feel the desert coming up.
We get to Merzouga late in the afternoon and check into your lodge, which is right next to the Erg Chebbi dunes. Dinner, and then a night’s stay at your Merzouga lodge.
Day 2: From Merzouga to Tinghir and then to Boumalne Dades
You can choose to get up early in the morning and climb one of the nearby hills to see a beautiful sunrise before breakfast.
Bring your camel back to the main town, where you’ll meet your driver. Then, we’ll start our trip today by going to the holy town of Rissani, which is where the father of the family that rules Morocco to this day was born.
You could go to the local date market while you’re there to learn about the different kinds of tasty dates that the Tafilalet Region is known for.
We keep going to Tinghir, which was a military stronghold during French rule, and Berber Village, where there was a large Jewish community until the 1660s, when most of them left.
Berbers in the area learned how to make silver jewelry from Jewish people, and it’s worth going to their shops. You can watch people raising goats or working in their fields as you walk along the oasis next to the stream with your local guide.
At the end of your walk, you can see the beautiful Todgha gorges, which are a group of 400-meter-deep limestone river gorges. Around late afternoon, keep going to Boumalne Dades for dinner and a night at a hotel.
Day 3: Boumalne Dades to Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou and back to Marrakech
The Valley of the Roses is right outside of Boumalne Dades. If you go there in the spring and open your car window, you’ll smell the Damascus Roses! You can take the chance to visit a small-scale distillery that makes rose water.
To get to Skoura, take the road of 1001 Kasbahs from here. You can walk to Kasbah Amridil, which is one of the best-preserved Kasbahs in Morocco and is now a private museum.
A guided tour of the Kasbah is worth it if you want to learn about the culture, buildings, and amazing ways that the Berbers water their crops.
Keep going to Ouarzazate and take a short break there before getting to the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou. People from all over the world come to see it, and it is one of Morocco’s world heritage places. Its unique clay building was used as a set for many Bible epics and Hollywood movies.
Walk across the river to get to the Village after meeting your guide. We eat lunch at a local café and then drive through the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi Ntichka pass on our way to Marrakech.
We’ll drop you off at your hotel, riad, or any other place you choose at the end of your 3-day tour from Fes. We’ll get there in the late afternoon.
